From Klingon to Elvish, from Newspeak to Nadsat, I have a passionate interest in invented languages; why people invent languages, what purposes those languages serve, and what they can tell us about our organic languages.
I’ve organised an international conference on them, and written about them in the media.
I’m the co-director of a research project which looks at how invented languages are translated, and what that can tell us about the art of translation. There’s a lot more about that on the project website.
